You Belong Here

In our kick-off Yoga Teacher Incubation Space, Lauren Vint shared with us a quote from Yoga Teacher Max Strom, and I am paraphrasing here: a good friend is more healing than a chemist. I just love this because it is so true. Having someone you trust that you can talk to is so precious. In the last few years I have recently reconnected with a family member who had moved to the west coast and it is a true joy to rediscover our common loves and challenges together. This is a gift that the Yoga Center of Columbia has to offer as well, not just a teacher-student relationship, but the possibility of true friendships that can last for decades. One thing I have heard over and over again since becoming Director of YCC is how much attending class at the Yoga Center has always felt like coming home. Our community naturally fosters a sense of welcome and the learning environment is one that allows students to connect to their own true selves.

Yoga and mindfulness practices help us calibrate to our true selves in the same way we would calibrate a compass to true north. When we are calibrated as such, there is a greater ease to life and we start to experience more joy. YCC has so many opportunities to work towards that state of joyfulness and to reconnect with others. With over 100 weekly classes, there are many options to meet your class needs and schedule, and immersive trainings this summer that include guest teachers Doug Keller, Dr. Loren Fishman, and a Myth, Mantra, Mudra, and Meditation training with me. Lauren will continue her Yoga Teacher Incubation Space series, and many of our other fabulous teachers are sharing their loves and interests in special workshops too. Won’t you join us? We are waiting to see you on the mat.

With love, Kelly
