What are your current areas of interest related to your practice?

After much personal loss at a young age, I'm only now beginning to put my attention on how yoga can aid those with grief, especially with the ideas of personal agency and empowerment. Also, my teaching is influenced by the accessible yoga practices of Jivana Heyman. I always try to bring content from The Gita, Upanishads, or Sutras into my classes.

Besides teaching yoga, how do you spend your time?

My background is in theatrical lighting design and currently I work in lighting controls for the construction industry. Hobbies include video games, reading, and when it is warm enough, swimming. I have one dog named Bella who is the guardian and ringleader of our house. Unless sleeping, she must always have an eye on everyone in the house at the same time, so you'll usually find her in the hallway facing in to as many rooms as she can while guarding the hallway.

What to expect in class: Zach teaches alignment based Hatha yoga, incorporating elements of meditation and subtle body awareness into his classes. Zach aims to create an environment of acceptance, equity and charity, all with a sense of humor and dedication to enabling students to make the practice their own.

Zach is a graduate of the Yoga Center of Columbia's Yoga Teacher Training program, and has been teaching at the studio since 2022. He treasures the sense of continuity and community between teachers and students at the studio, and is happy to be a part of an organization that values the evolution of personal understanding in one's yoga journey.
