How long have you been teaching yoga?
I did my first teacher training at the Yoga Center in 1999 with Moses Brown and Bob Glickstein. I have been teaching for 25 years: first at the YMCA and Columbia Association, and subbing at the Yoga Center of Columbia. I started teaching my own classes at the Yoga Center in 2000. It is my greatest honor and privilege to share yoga and meditation with our Yoga Center community and my life has been greatly blessed as the Owner / Director from 2005-2023. I am now able to take more classes than ever before; we have so many amazing teachers.

Besides teaching yoga, how do you spend your time?
I love to walk and kayak. I also have a dog, River.  She is a rescue who joined our family in September 2023.  She likes to meditate with me.

What to expect in class: Kathy's yoga and meditation classes are welcoming to all, as she teaches with the intention to meet everyone where they are and open from the inside out. She is passionate about helping her students invite peace and calm into their yoga practice and daily lives, and helping her students develop a strong mind-body connection.

Kathy has been a student of  teacher Thich Nhat Hanh since 1993 and in January 2021 was certified as a meditation teacher by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach after completing 2 years of study. She cares deeply about building a caring and open community, helping others receive the benefits of yoga and meditation practice, and contributing to local community organizations.
