What are your current areas of interest related to your practice?
I am perpetually on a quest for knowledge, constantly engaging in trainings, certifications, and workshops. Recently, I completed a program in level 1 iRest and am excited to continue with the second level this year. My interests also extend to further training in Energy Medicine Yoga™. My meditation practice, inspired by talks with Thich Nhat Hahn and the Dalai Lama in the 1990s, remains a cornerstone of my life, enhancing and deepening my yoga practice through diverse teachings.
Besides teaching yoga, how do you spend your time?
I’ve dedicated much of my adult life to teaching world languages, a passion that allows me to share language and culture with teenagers as a high school teacher. I’ve had the joy of traveling with students to countries like Spain, England, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Chile, and Argentina. In my free time, I love hiking, traveling, swimming, cycling, and meditating. I had the incredible experience of walking part of the Camino de Santiago with friends and family, a journey that I cherish and have brought back into my classroom and my life. I also have training in massage, energy healing techniques like Reiki and Healing Touch, and reflexology, which I integrate into my classes to help students connect with their mind, body, breath, and spirit.
What to expect in class: Julia shares her lifelong, diverse pursuit of knowledge in her classes to bring her students a holistic, mindful practice.
