RYT 500, Certified Integrative Yoga for Seniors Instructor

What are your current areas of interest related to your practice?

I am a certified Energy Medicine Yoga teacher and have been delving into EMYoga in my personal practice and sprinkling it into my classes. I have a passion for teaching yoga to People with Movement Disorders. I also have really enjoyed teaching students with Autism since the summer of 2023. I enjoy teaching gentle and slowly flowing yoga, but most importantly, offering students a yoga practice that supports their physical and wellness goals.

Besides teaching yoga, how do you spend your time?

I enjoy watching my toddler grandchildren several days a week, reading, hiking, walking my dog, learning new languages (Spanish, German), and staying fit and strong. Our dog, Dany, is a 7 month-old Golden Aussie. He’s already a big boy, and such a lovable pup.

What to expect in class: Diana teaches alignment-based Hatha yoga, with playful, flowing sequences, and desires to help students with varying physical abilities realize their own yoga practice. She encourages students in her classes to release tension, deepen their self-awareness, and develop a balance of strength and flexibility. Her class formats are diverse, including alignment-focused asana, vinyasa, and restorative asana.

Diana has been teaching at the Yoga Center of Columbia for over ten years! In 2019, she completed the Duke Health and Well Being: Integrative Yoga for Seniors program. In addition to her own classes, she is a frequent sub for most levels and styles of yoga classes at the YCC.
