What are your most memorable trips and experiences related to your practice?
My most memorable trip was going to the Himalayan Institute in Pittsburgh, PA for my Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist Certification. YCC introduced me to Ayurveda through my teacher trainings and the Ayurveda Immersion. Going out of state for training and certification was a big step for me and way outside of my comfort zone. It was so worth it though, and I was very well prepared since I had the YCC Yoga Immersion training.

Besides teaching yoga, how do you spend your time?
I love to bake and cook, read, shop, listen to music, journal, and spend time with my furbabies. I also have a mild obsession with superheroes. To know me is to know that I love animals! I currently have 2 dogs and 2 cats. I have a smiling Doberman (yes, she smiles!), named Daisy; an English Springer Spaniel named Roscoe; and two cats, Thor and Loki.

What to expect in class: Amy joyfully teaches from her heart leading students through fun, light-hearted practices with a strong emphasis on proper alignment within the body, mind, and spirit. She incorporates philosophies from Ayurveda and Svadhyaya (self study) into her classes to help her students reach inward and focus on self-care, and she wishes to pass on to her students the sense of compassion, mindfulness, and peace that yoga gives to her.

Amy has been a part of the Yoga Center of Columbia community since 2016, and received her Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist certification in 2017. She also is certified in yin yoga and restorative yoga, and is certified to help treat lower back pain through the use of yoga postures.
